Woodstock Police Service Promotes New Community Service Officer

Constable Nikki VanLeeuwen will take over the position of Community Service Officer and Media Relations replacing Constable Steven McEwen

WOODSTOCK - Residents of the city will see a new face at community events on behalf of the Woodstock Police Service.

Constable Nikki VanLeeuwen will take over the responsibility of Community Service Officer and Media Relations replacing Constable Steven McEwen.  VanLeeuwen deems herself a people person and is looking forward to her new role.

VanLeeuwen is already very familiar with Woodstock.  "I've been working as a police officer for 13 years, 11 of those have been in the city of Woodstock.  I'm actually really excited!  A lot of this job - it really is proactive and being on the road and general patrol can be very reactive and investigative.  Although I really enjoyed that job as well, I am kind of excited to put on a different hat."

VanLeeuwen is overjoyed to start a new position at the service where she has worked for over a decade.  "I'm most looking forward to being out in the community with people and really addressing any issues that they have first hand - that's what I'm excited about. I'm a people person, and know a lot of people, and I love chatting with people."

The new Community Service Officer wishes to hear the publics questions and concerns.  "I have an open door policy and if they have any questions about anything basically they can call me.  If they have any inquiries or just want to meet me, want me to come out to their event and share safety information, they can reach me that way."

Constable VanLeeuwen will be a part of numerous community initiatives that will even have her patrolling the city even on a bike throughout the summer.
