Zero Tolerance - Zero Collisions Campaign in Norfolk County

Norfolk OPP laid 67 charges while conducting their Zero Tolerance - Zero Collisions campaign last Friday and Saturday.

NORFOLK COUNTY - Norfolk OPP were extra vigilant during their Zero Tolerance - Zero Collisions campaign.

Officers kept a close eye on the high traffic areas like Highway 24 last Friday and Saturday.

Constable Ed Sanchuk says they caught a lot of drivers breaking the rules of the road.

"We laid approximately 67 charges; one was for impaired driving by drugs, one was for refusing to provide a (breath) sample, possession of methamphetamine, there was 41 speeding charges and the list goes on."

They also busted people who didn't wear a seatbelt, ran stop signs and didn't have an insurance card.

Sanchuk says they will be bringing the campaign back on a monthly basis.

"One charge is one too many, so we're asking every resident not just in Norfolk County but around the province to put your safety as a priority. Put the technology away, wear a seatbelt, don't get behind the wheel impaired, reduce your speed and no aggressive driving."
