Vuteq Wins TMMC Award

Woodstock's Vuteq plant wins Toyota launch award at Manufacturer's Breakfast

A Woodstock parts supplier is getting major recognition from Toyota.

At the Woodstock Chamber of Commerce Manufacturers Breakfast Friday morning,  Manager of Supplier Preparation and Development at Toyota, Steve Whitney presented Vuteq Canada with a special award.

"For the Rav4 launch we had 196 suppliers that we worked with and we had about 50 companies apply for a Launch Award. Vuteq did a remarkable job launching the Rav4 program, basically it was a flawless launch. In the end, we narrowed it down to 8 companies that won Launch Awards. Vuteq is one of the companies."

Vuteq Canada specializes in the manufacture of automotive interior trim, glass assembly, vacuum forming and custom assembly.

General Manager of Corporate Planning for Toyota Greg Mordue who was the keynote speaker at the breakfast.

Mordue says in Oxford County we are very lucky to have the Rav4.

"That's been a very successful core product for Toyota and that's important for the supplier base in Oxford County. Similarly the Equinox in Ingersoll is a good product, an important product for General Motors so Oxford County is well served and having those kinds of products is very important to all of our companies."

Mordue tells Heart FM what manufacturers could be doing better to ensure a prosperous future.

"We have to keep spending and investing in our equipment and of course investing in our people because that marriage of equipment and people is what keeps the auto industry competitive and what keeps each of our individual companies successful."

Mordue says we have to sharpen our game and be constantly vigilant in order to compete with the southern United States and Mexico.
