Wienerfest Home County Festival is Canada’s largest breed specific event, focused on Dachshunds, but all dogs are welcome and you don't need a dog to attend. It is a very well attended event.

It’s a free family and dog-friendly daylong event that provide funding for pet rescue and raises awareness for the plight of abandoned and abused animals in Canada.

There will be many fun events, such as the ever popular Dachshund Races, as well as costume contests, and professional photo opportunities with the “wienermobile”.

Over 100 exhibitors, both local and from across North America will have booths, selling products such as animal dietary products, clothing, leashes, pet services and personal handicrafts. Numerous local and nationally recognized businesses, who are sponsors, will also attend. Visitors can choose from a wide variety of food services from local charities and Food Trucks.

A veterinarian and a pet trainer will be on site all day, to answer questions visitors may have regarding their pets.

All well-mannered dogs of all breeds are welcome and will be considered “honourary” dachshunds for the day. Animals must be on a leash at all times. Flexi leashes are not allowed.

Wienerfest Home County Festiva operates under the umbrella of Tiny Paws Dog Rescue, a registered Canadian Charity (Business Number 82942 3920 RR0001).

Tiny Paws Dog Rescue works with shelters, pounds, other rescues, and private individuals to save dogs that might otherwise be euthanized and places those dogs into our private foster homes. We provide standard veterinary care and other needed medical treatment, work on training issues and through our adoption screening process, find new forever homes for the dogs in our care. We also educate the public about the important reasons to spay/neuter pets, the deplorable conditions found in puppy mills, the sources of pet store dogs and the need to adequately care for and train the family pet.

An estimated two million dogs enter Canadian shelters and rescue organizations each year: close to one million are euthanized. We strive hard, every day, every week to reduce this number.
