At least one person has died and HWY 401 W/B will be closed for several hours after a multi vehicle collision this afternoon near Ingersoll.
INGERSOLL - The 401 West Bound is closed at Oxford Road 6 and Sweaburg Road after two separate collisions.
The crash at Oxford Road 6 involves about 15-20 vehicles, including several transports. At least one person has died in the collision. Constable Laura Brown says they are asking people to avoid the highway.
"Slow down, please take your time. W/B 401 travellers should expect the highway to be closed for several hours to allow for an investigation and Highway cleanup."
Brown says they want people to use extreme caution on our highways, especially those travelling past the crash in the E/B lanes.
"We also know that collisions like this tend to draw plenty of attention from passing motorists. We are asking E/B drivers to pay attention to your surroundings, arrive safely and be aware of everyone on the road."
The crash looks like a scene from a movie with several vehicles piled up. One of the transports is jacked-knifed right across all three lanes of the highway.
