The U12 Major Atom Girls take 4th at weekend OBA provincial championships in London.

LONDON -- The Oxford Attack Under 12 Major Atom Girls competitive basketball team finished with a 2-2 record and a respectable 4th place finish in Division 4 out of 7 at the Ontario Basketball Association provincial championships in London over the weekend.  This first year travel basketball team finished their season with 17 wins against 11 losses and a solid provincial ranking of 25th out of 55 teams in Ontario.

The Attack girls opened the tournament with a thrilling victory 20 -17 over a taller and more experienced Brockville Badgers squad.  Jaime Magoffin and Hannah Cowan led their team in scoring with 9 and 8 points respectively.

The Attack moved on to play the London 86ers and won convincingly 40 – 16.  Beth Ewing had 7 points while Ashley Docherty and Alexis Birch each tallied 6 points for their team.

The Attack next faced their nemesis in the semi-finals, the Timmins Selects; whom the Attack had both beaten and lost too earlier in the season by only 3 points each time.  The Attack fell 31 – 29 to the Selects.  Emma Hagen-Johnson led the Attack with 9 points.  Ainsley Docherty had 2 points.

The Attack played for bronze against a tough Tecumseh Saints squad and fell in overtime 29 – 24.

The Oxford Attack girls look forward to competing next season in the U13 bantam girls division.
