Affordable Housing Costs the County

The County will pay into the latest affordable housing project for the next 25 years. 54 units are going in the old Harvey Woods building. There's an initial contribution of over $725-thousand from provincial and federal funding. An additional annual fund of over $200-thousand will support the operation from the County. "Absolutely we're excited about the project. First of all, it's redeveloping a property that's sat vacant for 20 years in the heart of Woodstock, so that's a great opportunity. In terms of the housing, it provides for 54 people on the Ontario Disability Support Program. They're residents of Oxford County and also clients of ours," said the County's manager of social services and housing Paul Beaton. Construction will start this June. It should be move-in ready by June of 2014. The project is being undertaken in partnership with Homestead Christian Care. Heart FM talked with them earlier this week: click here to read.
