WOODSTOCK - The CP Holiday train is making a stop in Woodstock once again this year.
Lead singer of Great Big Sea Alan Doyle will headline the free Christmas concert along with the Beautiful band. The CP Holiday train was established 21 years ago as a way to lift community spirits ahead of Christmas and raise money and food donations for are local food banks. You are asked to bring a non perishable food item to the concert.
The train will hit Southwestern Ontario on Friday November 29th this year. It will make a stop in Ayr at 5:20 p.m. before coming to Woodstock at 199 Winniett street for a show starting at 6:50 pm.
CP President and CEO Keith Creel says since they started doing this in 1999, CP has raised over $15.8 million dollars and 4.5 million pounds of food.
"The CP Holiday Train is a program that our 13,000-strong CP family has immense pride in bringing to communities every year. Access to nutritious food is a basic necessity, and food bank usage is on the rise across North America. The CP Holiday Train program is our way to help in the fight against hunger by growing awareness of this issue and providing a fun and engaging way for the public to show their support."
