Alleged Impaired Driver Ignores Closed Road Barrier

Police were shocked when a man ignored a closed road barrier, while they were investigating fatal collision.

THAMES CENTRE - Police have charged a man with impaired driving, who drove through a closed road while police were investigating a fatal collision.

The fatal crash happened early this morning at the intersection of Dundas Street and Hunt Road. While investigating the fatal crash, a man drove right around a clearly marked road closure barrier and entered the collision scene. When police talked to the man, they determined he had been drinking.

The 28 year old was arrested on the spot and is facing impaired driving charges. Provincial Constable Max Gomez says police were shocked when the vehicle arrived on the scene.

"This is yet another shocking example of why police officers remain committed to reducing and eradicating impaired drivers from our roadways. Collision scenes are complex investigations that demand an officers' full attention.  A catastrophic event was avoided due to the quick action taken by the officers on scene."
