Grade 10 students from College Avenue Secondary School are being featured on the CBC Music Class channel on Youtube.
WOODSTOCK - The Grade 10 music class at CASS is featured on the CBC.
The students covered the Dan Mangan song "Robots" and it is featured on the CBC Music Class channel on Youtube. Music Teacher Hannah Robinet says the kids couldn't play the song at school this year because of COVID.
"So there was a lot of work that went into this, many hours spent in terms of sound and video editing to make this work. All the kids would record to what's called a click track, they would be recording at home with their ear phones in, recording all to the same track, which is challenging because you really have to stay in time, you don't have the conductor there helping you with the timing. I think the students were really surprised to see everyone come together as a whole in the video."
She notes it is a huge honour for the class to be featured worldwide on the CBC Music Class channel.
"It's just showing that despite the restrictions right now with COVID, we are still here, we are still making music, our music program is still growing and our kids were offered this amazing opportunity which is shared worldwide."
