The bridge crossing the CN railway on Blenheim Road has been deemed not fit for vehicle or pedestrian traffic.
BLANDFORD-BLENHEIM - Blenheim Road will be closed for some time between Highway 2 and Township Road 2.
Blandford-Blenheim Director of Public Works Jim Borton says the closure is because of the bridge crossing the CN Railway on the gravel road.
"So we had the engineer come out and have a look at it and do an assessment on it and the underside and the gerders, the plates are starting to rot away and the engineers have deemed it unsafe to vehicle and pedestrian traffic."
About 500 people use the road every day and there are a few homeowners who will be impacted. Borton says they have discussed this crossing with CN before.
"We have had talks about having the bridge replaced, so obviously that will get moved up now and so we are hoping that will done in 2019. Right now we don't have actual dates, other than we are planning to do it this year."
The closure will be in affect for awhile, likely until at least the Fall.
