WOODSTOCK - A dramatic rescue at the Pittock Conservation Area in Woodstock on Sunday.

Two 11 year old boys fell into the water around 11:30 Sunday morning. By the time EMS, Fire and Police arrived, the one kid was able to make it back to land, however one of the youths was still in the ice. Public Information Coordinator Lisa Woods says at that point fire crews sprang into action.

"We deployed our water rescue training equipment and were able to get the second youth out of the water. He was in the water for about 20 minutes, so it is a situation that could have been much worse. With the assistance of Woodstock Police and paramedics on shore, they were able to get transported to Woodstock Hospital and a very happy ending for those families at this time."

The boy who was in the water for over 20 minutes was taken to the hospital in London for further testing. Both boys seem to be doing fine and are expected to make a full recovery.
