Extortion Charges in Stratford

Stratford Police say 22 year old Josh Alexander extorted over a dozen women through Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat.

STRATFORD - Stratford Police have charged a man who allegedly extorted over a dozen women through social media.

Officers say 22 year old Josh Alexander would use fake Snapchat and Instagram accounts to trick women into sending him naked photos of them for money. After receiving said photos, police say Alexander would not pay the women, and instead would threaten to send the pictures to their Facebook friends and family members.

He has been charged with 35 criminal charges and 16 counts of extortion.

Stratford Police have located victims from all over the province throughout their 18 month investigation, and they believe there may be more out there. Anyone with information is being encouraged to reach out to Detective Constable Jeff McGregor of the Stratford Police Criminal Investigations Division by calling 519-271-4147 using the extension 187.
