WOODSTOCK - A Huron Park Secondary School student has been organizing a special fundraiser, where all the proceeds will benefit Canadian Mental Health Association of Oxford.
Katelynne Haskell is in the tenth grade and tells Heart FM why she decided to organize this fundraiser.
"I've always wanted to do something to kind of help out the community, kind of be a leader for the teens and stuff. I figured since all the recent suicides that it's a good chance to kind of show that something needs to be done and fundraising for the CMHA will definitely help."
The fair style fundraiser will feature:
- Bouncy castles
- Cotton candy and snow cone machines
- Face painting
- Photo booth
- Bake sale
- Barbeque
- Live music
- Crisis workers with booths
- Youth speakers
- Appearances by Woodstock Spiderman, princesses and a clown
Haskell adds there will also be a special balloon ceremony.
"We are going to have balloons towards the end around 3pm. We are going to ask everyone if they have lost a loved one or anything like that to youth suicide or even if they have just lost someone they miss, they can write their name on a balloon and we will all let them go."
The fundraiser will take place in Brompton Park on June 18th and will run from 11am to 3pm.
