UPDATE: The deceased inside the apartment has been identified as 30-year-old Tyler King of the Mississauga's of the Credit First Nation, Ontario.

Police say there is no concern for public safety at this time and there were no one else inside the apartment.
The Office of the Ontario Fire Marshall is assisting with the investigation.

HAGERSVILLE - Haldimand County OPP says one person has died after a fire damaged an apartment unit on Main Street North.
OPP, Haldimand County Fire Services and Haldimand County paramedics responded to the incident before 9 o'clock on Wednesday night after a witness reported seeing smoke coming from an apartment unit.
The fire was put out by firefighters and the body was found inside the apartment.
According to Haldimand County Fire Services, there was no one else inside and the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal is going to investigate.
The cause of the fire and the identity of the deceased is still being investigated.
Meanwhile, OPP continue to investigate and is asking anyone who may have any information to assist with the investigation to contact them at 1-888-310-1122.
