Feature Film Directed By An Ingersoll Native Hits The Big Screen

A hollywood Director from Ingersoll is one the headliners of the Forest City Film Festival. Robert Budreau will be showing his film Stockholm on Friday October 25th at the Festival, followed by a Q and A with the director.

INGERSOLL - One of the feature films at this years Forest City Film Festival was directed by Robert Budreau of Ingersoll.

Budreau is the director and writer of the feature film Stockholm, starring Ethan Hawke. He was born in London and grew up in Ingersoll, attending High Scholl at IDCI. He is excited to showcase the movie for a home town audience.

"It's always fun, I love, being able to kind of show old friends what I am up to and it means a lot to get back home, I don't get a chance to get back enough to be honest."

Budreau will be doing a live Q&A with the audience after the film is shown at the Festival on Friday and Saturday night of the Festival. Budreau says the film is actually based on a true story.

"The film is loosely based on the bank heist and hostage crisis, that occurred in 1973 in Stockholm Sweden, which was the origins of something called Stockholm syndrome. Stockholm syndrome is when hostages, start to fall for their captors and turn against the authorities, so this is quite an absurd and crazy true story about this 3-4 day hostage crisis that started from a bank heist, where a man breaks into a bank and takes a bunch of clerks hostage. They end up getting stuck in a bank vault and the authorities and the police also end up camping upstairs in the bank. It is a real interesting at the times, the 70's in Sweden and how the authorities were so unprepared to deal with such a crisis."

Budreau says it was a lot of fun to make this film and it is best enjoyed to watch it on the big screen. This is the second film, Budreau has done with movie star Ethan Hawke.

"It is always nice to work with an actor multiple times because you develop a certain trust. A lot of actors, repeatedly work with directors for that reason. Ethan is such a pro, he is so good, he is a writer, director himself, so he is full of great ideas. It's been a real pleasure to be able to work with a guy like Ethan, he also happens to be a really down to earth guy, so he kind of sets the tone on set for everyone involved."

Budreau is currently working on several new projects, including a pilot for TV and a new feature film called Deed, that is a Western and will be shot in Western Canada.

The Forest City Film Festival runs from October 24th to the 27th and you can find more information about it online here.
