First Town Hall Meeting Of The Year In Norwich

The first of three public meetings for the year is set to take place on May 16th.

NORWICH - The public is being invited to the first town hall meeting in Norwich.

The public is open to discussing issues that could impact their community.

Mayor Larry Martin says he expects the regional review to be among the topics.

"I'm quite sure the governance review will be a definite issue there and how it's impacting, how we're going to move forward. I know we do have that meeting setup in the first part of May with Minister Clark and Minister Hardeman, so the first one is three days after that meeting that was a coincidence it wasn't planned, so maybe we'll a little more information in that point in time too."

Mayor Martin adds they are being held for the public.

"We don't have an agenda, it's up to the public and this is the public's meeting. They come to us and we try to answer as many concerns as we can at these meetings, and the ones that we can't answer they can be found in the CAO's report in the council minutes and they can go online and get the right answer."

It is the first of three sessions scheduled for 2019.

The next meeting will take place at the Heritage Reform Church in Burgessville on August 1st and the last one will be held at the Springford Hall in Springford on November 7th.

Mayor Martin says it's important to have town hall meetings so they can hear the community's feedback.

"It's important to us, it gives us an idea basically like a report card in a way. It gives us an idea what their concerns are as well. Maybe we're going in the wrong direction and they want us to go in another one but we still have to do the day-to-day stuff, but lots of times I've found that it's just that the people just don't, it's not that they're not interested or they some time they get wrong information or they are misinformed or they misunderstand what is being said. This way it takes a lot of the cloudiness out of it."

The town hall meeting is at the Norwich Community Centre on May 16th.
