WOODSTOCK - Three local United Churches are are coming together to hold a fundraiser for over 150 broken tombstones at the Hillview Cemetery.
On May 9th vandals knocked over and broke the tombstones causing over $10,000 in damage. No arrests have been made yet.
College Avenue United Church, Saint David's United Church and Dundas Street United Church are holding a fundraiser event at College Avenue United Church on June 16th from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Pastor at College Avenue United Church, Lloyd Bennett says they have set their goal high.
"We originally authorized $10,000 from limited funds that Hillview has at their disposal for repairs. We anticipate the final repairs will probably be greater than that so if we can see a $10,000 fundraising event we'll be happy."
Bennett adds that there will be BBQ hamburgers, veggie burgers and salads, a live performance by Lynn Hickey and a silent auction.
"Long & McQuade have just told us they are sending a guitar over and there's another company in town who have offered up a brand new barbeque. The items to be bid on will be decent and substantial."
Tickets for the event can be purchased through all three churches or at the door. Adults are $20.00, ages 13 and under are $10.00 and children under five are free.
