Going Back In Time

Remembering The 50's and 60's is happening throughout the summer. The Plattsville & District Heritage Society's 2019 exhibit began on June 15th and it runs until August 31st.

PLATTSVILLE - The Plattsville & District Heritage Society's latest exhibit is underway.

The event is called Remembering The 50's and 60's.

Board member Denise Tew says the exhibit has everything from both era's, including a pinball machine and memorabilia from the Beatles and The Beach Boys.

"We have our Remembering the 50's and 60's exhibit and it's just a large collection of everything from the 50's and 60's. We have a parlour serving root beer and cookies, we have a jukebox, we have a pinball machine, we have an old time kitchen, lots of memorabilia from the Beatles and The Beach Boys."

It will also feature bobby socks, poodle skirts, drive-ins, Elvis and the Man on the Moon. The event is free to attend and it runs every Saturday from 10:00am to 4:00pm.

Tew says arrangements can be made if you can't make it.

"It's just open, you can drop in. If those times don't work out for you we have volunteers who will open up on evenings and Sundays, and if you have a group that wants to come out, we have people coming with their old cars and popping in for a visit."

She adds this is the fifth show that the Plattsville & District Heritage Society is organizing. She says they encourage everyone to come out to see the exhibit.

It is located at the former Chesterfield Church on 816661 Oxford Road 22, two roads north of Bright.

Tew says donations are accepted. For more information, you can visit their Facebook page or you can head to the Tourism Oxford website.

The exhibit runs until August 31st.
