The Indigenous Advisory Committee in Oxford County is hosting a free fall social gathering.
WOODSTOCK - The Indigenous Advisory Committee in Oxford County is hosting a free fall social gathering.
Those who attend will get a chance to celebrate indigenous culture in the region. They will have activities for the kids, a drumming performance, information booths, food and refreshments. Human Services Manager Lynda Bartlett says the drumming performance is always interesting.
"This is a group of women who have all made their own drums, so they will be performing and using their own drums, we also have a drummer, Leon Fleury, who is from the Paris area who will be performing for us as well."
Bartlett explains how the Fall Social Gathering came about.
"The Indigenous Advisory Committee thought this would be a great way to learn a little bit about idigenous culture, make some connections and we wanted people to know what is available in the community, as far as children's services and those types of resources."
The free drop in is happening on Saturday October 21st from noon to 4:00 p.m. at the St Marys High School.
