Ted Hunt dedicated 27 years of his life working for the Town of Ingersoll.

INGERSOLL - A former Councillor, Building Inspector, Development Officer, and CAO-Clerk for the Town of Ingersoll will be remembered today.

According to his obituary posted on the McBeath-Dynes Funeral Home website, Ted Hunt was in his 87th year when he passed away at Woodingford Lodge in Woodstock last week.

He served as an Ingersoll Town Councillor from 1969 to 1972, before he was hired by the municipality in 1975.

Hunt dedicated 27 years working for the town and current CAO Michael Graves says he also worked for other Oxford municipalities throughout his career.

"Ingersoll was not his only influence. He actually spent some time and worked for the Town of Tillsonburg where I met him, we worked together doing economic development. Ted then went on from there to work for the Township of Norwich doing economic development and was instrumental in me coming to the Township of Norwich and being CAO there."

Hunt also played a big role in bringing the CAMI plant to Ingersoll during his time as the CAO for Ingersoll. Graves says he always looked up to his friend.

"I always considered him to be a mentor and someone that I looked up to and still up until recent times would talk to him periodically to pick his brain and hear words of encouragement."

Ingersoll Mayor Brian Petrie issued the following statement on his Facebook page on Monday.

"We have a lot of things to be thankful for in our community because of this great man. He loved and served his community, his entire life. I’ve been lucky enough to have been able to learn from Mr. Hunt. My deepest condolences to his family and a very heartfelt thank you for his service to the Town of Ingersoll and the community. May he rest in peace."

Hunt's funeral will be held at First Baptist Church in Ingersoll today, with an 11:00 a.m. start time.
