Southwestern Public Health is making it easier for families to find services for pregnancy and baby support by combining those programs into one easy to find name, "Know and Grow."
OXFORD/ELGIN COUNTY - Southwestern Public Health is making it easier for families to find services for pregnancy and baby support.
Program Manager of Health Growth and Development for the region Felix Harmos explains why they created Know and Grow.
"We had different program names in Elgin County and in Oxford County. We hoped it would be much easier for families to find us if they only had to remember one name, so ‘Know and Grow’ was born. We intend for ‘Know and Grow’ to be an easily recognizable, useful and accessible resource for those planning a pregnancy, already pregnant or raising a child from birth to age six."
So from now on the Baby & Me Clinics in Elgin County and Ask a Nurse Clinics in Oxford County will now be called the Know & Grow Clinics across both regions.
Also the Family Health Line in Elgin and Health Matters Line in Oxford will know be called the Know and Grow Line.
The Know & Grow Line will maintain existing phone numbers for each location:
- Know & Grow Line Elgin-St. Thomas: 519-631-9900 x 1400
- Know & Grow Line Oxford: 519-421-9901 x 3473
The Know and Grow clinics have been suspended because of the pandemic, however the hope is they will be back sometime in the new year.
Families can call the Know & Grow Line to speak to a Public Health Nurse about preconception, pregnancy, child birth, and parenting, or they can visit www.swpublichealth.ca/knowandgrow for more information and resources.
