Trial averted. Jason Lewis of Woodstock has pleaded guilty to assault causing bodily harm in the 2011 assault of Daryl Watson. Lewis received a suspended sentence of 40 hours of community service, along with three years of probation. Lewis apologized to Watson in court, who suffered brain damage in the assault, and is still undergoing rehabilitation nearly 2-years-later. It was alleged Lewis punched Watson in the back of the head, causing Watson's face to hit the pavement in Museum Square. However, Lewis denies hitting Watson in the back of the head. Watson says he has no recollection of the assault. A 4-day trial in the case was supposed to start this morning, but ended before it started when Lewis entered the guilty plea.
