London Woman To Walk Across Ontario For Diabetes

Jennifer Miller of London, along with friends and family will be walking across the province as part of the Walking The Line fundraiser, which raises money and awareness for diabetes research.

A London woman will be walking across the province in order to raise money and awareness for diabetes research.

Jennifer Miller's two daughters Haylee (age 13) and Lilee (age 11) both live with Type One Diabetes. Haylee was diagnosed in 2011 while Lilee was diagnosed last year. Jennifer tells Heart FM this has impacted her family.

"It effects everything that we've done and continue to do. It plays an emotional role and a financial role. The stress is unbelievable and it's also brought us extremely closer together."

Haylee and Lilee will be joining Jennifer on the walk which will begin in London on May 2nd and is expected to end on Parliament Hill June 5th. Jennifer tells us more about the route they will be taking.

"Closer to London we're kind of zigzagging through to hit London, St Thomas, Alymer, Woodstock, Tillsonburg, Ingersoll; that kind of area. Once we get closer down to Hamilton then basically we're straight up along the lake."

They have a scheduled stop in Woodstock on May 6th. While in the Friendly City they hope to meet other diabetics and supporters. They will also stop by some local clinics.

You can find out more information about their route and donate money to the cause on their website. All of the funds made will go to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
