Norfolk OPP Briefs - Thursday November 16th

A 34-year-old man has been charged with drug trafficking in Delhi and a 42-year-old woman was arrested for impaired driving in Waterford.

DELHI/SIMCOE - What started out as a fraud investigation ended with drug trafficking related charges.

The Norfolk OPP arrested a man on James Street in Delhi Monday afternoon, after responding to a fraud related incident in Simcoe the day before.

While he was in custody officers discovered that he was carrying suspected cocaine and fentanyl, drug paraphernalia and a decent amount of Canadian cash.

The 34-year-old man from Norfolk is now facing a list of charges including possession of cocaine and fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking, possession of an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose and fraud under $5,000. He was also charged with three counts of failure to comply with probation and two counts of failure to comply with a release order other than to attend court.

WATERFORD/TOWNSEND - The Norfolk OPP has busted a 42-year-old woman for impaired driving.

A concerned member of the public called police at around 6:20 p.m. on Sunday, after they spotted someone they believed was driving impaired on Blueline Road in Townsend.

After further investigation officers found the vehicle on Alice Street in Waterford and arrested the driver. 

She has been charged with operation while impaired by alcohol and drugs and operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over 80.
