Norwich Township has received several complaints about a large woodpile on Highway 59
NORWICH TOWNSHIP - Wood piles are starting to cause some headaches in Norwich Township.
Several residents have complained to council about the large piles of wood located at a business on Highway 59 just south of Woodstock. Mayor Larry Martin admits the wood piles are an eyesore.
"It is something we have been hearing from the constituents for quite some time and we have been watching it, we have been monitoring it, and we are trying to do the best we can but there are some things that take time to do."
Martin says the biggest concern is what would happen if the piles ever caught on fire. He says he can't comment on the orders issued at this time and they hope to be able to offer some more information soon.
"I have to be careful what I say because there have been some orders issued on the property, but they are there and we are very much aware of them and they bother us as much as they do the public because if something doesn't go right or it goes south, who is going to clean it up?"
