Oxford County council recently approved renovations to the Oxford County Public Health building after receiving a generous donation.
OXFORD COUNTY - There will be some reconstruction done to the outside of Oxford County's public health building.
Oxford County council recently approved the renovations after a trust fund of over $251,069 was left by the late R. Bruce Flowers.
Supervisor of Facilities Mike Amy says they will use the money to fix the outside of the facility.
"There was originally two chimneys that were removed that we will be reinstating on the east and west walls of the north entrance, that will protrude up to the roof, so the roof will be redone in order to make that all happen."
Amy says the project is expected to begin sometime this summer and is one that is important in preserving the rich history of the building.
"It's great that he as an individual saw how this could add to Oxford's history and the cultural heritage of the area."
Flowers' obituary says he taught at Huron Secondary School.
He passed away in 2018.
