WOODSTOCK - It has been a busy 24 hours for the Woodstock Police service who dealt with 60 calls for service in that time.
On Wednesday morning a police cruiser was nearly hit by a red Honda driving at high rate of speed on Vansittart Ave. The officer who was almost hit, pulled over the driver who had a suspended license. The 18 year old driver is facing a number of charges.
Also on Wednesday morning police were called to a home after a break and enter in the Friendly City. The crime happened while the homeowner was doing some yard work and had left his garage door open and the door to the house open. When the man went back inside he noticed that someone had broken into the home and stolen about $7,500 in jewelry and cash.
Meanwhile on Wednesday afternoon police were called to a two vehicle crash in the area of Dundas St. and Clark St. One person received minor injuries and a 20 year old Woodstock man was charged under the highway traffic act for following too close.
Also on Wednesday afternoon police were called after responding to a complaint of an 8 year old driving a truck. The child was driving the truck to move it so his parent could move another vehicle on their property. Police warned and educated the parent about the potential dangers and legal ramifications of letting an 8 year old operate a vehicle, however no charges were laid.
Police also arrested a 43 year old woman after investigating an unrelated matter on Hughson St. The alert officer noticed a woman in the apartment who had a warrant out for her arrest.
