Ontario confirmed 1,258 new cases of the virus this morning and 1,007 resolved cases. Testing numbers continue to be up with over 64,000 tests completed yesterday.
ONTARIO - The Province of Ontario has confirmed 1,258 new cases of COVID-19 this morning, bringing the total number of cases in the Province to 298,569.
Ontario is also reporting 28 new deaths today related to COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths in the Province to 6,944. Another 1,007 cases have been labelled resolved, bringing the total number of resolved cases to 281,331. Ontario confirmed several new cases of COVID-19 variants yesterday. We now have a total of 477 cases of the variant that originated in the U.K, 14 of the variant traced back to South Africa and 2 that originated in Brazil.
The province completed 64,049 tests yesterday. We currently have 683 COVID-19 patients in the hospital with 284 people in the ICU and 193 in the ICU on a ventilator. Most of the new cases are once again coming from hot spot regions with 362 new cases in Toronto, 274 in Peel and 104 in York Region.
