WOODSTOCK - The Walk for Lupus is happening at Southside Park in Woodstock on Saturday.
Local Coordinator Jan Ropp started this walk 9 years ago.
"I have had Lupus for 30 years and I had never been able to participate because of my health and because of all the new research, I have been able to take some medications that have helped and I was actually able to walk for a bit last year."
Ropp says they do not have a set number of kilometres for the walk because a lot of the participants have Lupus or arthritis. They just walk around the park for as long as you like and then they have a reception afterwards.
"When we come back from the walk, we do the prizes and we usually have cake, coffee and water for refreshments. We are right next to the playground at Southside Park so the kids always have a blast as well, it's a fun day and everyone always has lot's of fun."
Registration starts at 10:00 am, with the walk beginning at 11. All of the money raised at the event will go towards Lupus Research through Lupus Ontario.
