Police have identified the 8 year old boy from Toronto who drowned in Lake Erie this weekend at Turkey Point.
SECOND UPDATE: Police have identified the 8 year old boy who died in Lake Erie this weekend.
Norfolk OPP found the body of a 8-year-old Mustapha Adam from Toronto about 200 yards away fro the shoreline off of Cedar Drive in Turkey Point on Sunday afternoon.
The search started at around 5:30 Saturday evening, after the boy was last spotted abandoning floating raft in Lake Erie and attempting to swim back to shore.
Acting Sergeant Ed Sanchuk says the community stepped up to help the family on the weekend.
"The OPP would like to take this opportunity to say thank-you to witnesses that provided information to the investigating officers, and to everyone in the Turkey Point Community that offered their assistance to the family while dealing with this tragedy."
The family was able to stay in Turkey Point on Saturday night, after a cottage was offered to them.

The 8 year old boy went missing around 5:30 pm on Saturday.
He was swimming in the Lake after abandoning a raft and trying to swim back to shore. Family members contacted police after they were unable to locate their son.
Crews spent the night searching the lake for the child and that search will continue today. The underwater search and recovery unit is assisting with the investigation. Updates will be provided by Acting Sargeant Ed Sanchuk.
