Shoppers Drug Mart Now Accepting Tampon Tuesday Donations

Submitted photo

The Shoppers Drug Mart locations in Oxford County are now accepting donations of cash and menstrual hygiene products, ahead of Tampon Tuesday on March 5th.

OXFORD COUNTY - Tampon Tuesday is right around the corner.

United Way Oxford has events planned at the Kelsey’s Original Roadhouse restaurant locations in Woodstock and Tillsonburg for Tuesday March 5th, but Resource Development Manager Amanda Kreiger says you don't have to wait to donate to the cause.

"Everybody is not always available on Tuesday March 5th to come in between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. so they will start collections at all of the Shoppers Drug Mart locations in Oxford County this week. So if you're there and can pick up a box of menstrual hygiene products and can leave it in the box, they will get it to us for the Tuesday event."

Cash will also be accepted and Kreiger adds all of the donations will benefit local organizations in hopes of addressing period poverty in our community.

"We get those (the donations) out to the communities in which they're raised as well. So it's local because it's in Oxford County, but also if you donate in Ingersoll it stays in Ingersoll, if you donate in Norwich it stays in Norwich, etc. We keep them in those communities for those food banks and programs, but throughout the year those products run out."

Almost 1,500 products were donated during last year's Tampon Tuesday campaign.

We have four Shoppers Drug Mart locations in Oxford County:

Woodstock - 959 Dundas Street East
Woodstock - 333 Dundas Street West
Ingersoll - 120 Thames Street North
Tillsonburg - 200 Broadway Street
Norwich - 19 Stover Street North
