A 26-year-old man from Woodstock is lucky to be alive after his snowmobile broke through some ice in Blandford-Blenheim.
BLANDFORD-BLENHEIM - A man from Woodstock had to be taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries after his snowmobile broke through some ice in Blandford-Blenheim.
Oxford OPP say it happened while the 26-year-old was out riding with a group of friends early this morning. He went ahead and tried to cross a pond when the ice broke and his sled sunk in the water.
The driver was able to self-rescue and police found him just outside Innerkip at around 6:00 a.m. Oxford OPP were first notified of the incident at around 3:30 a.m. The driver did suffer serious but non life threatening injuries and Police say he is lucky to be alive today.
