Southwestern Public Health Confirms 6 New Cases of COVID-19 This Morning

For the first time this year, the amount of active cases in the SW Public Health Region is under 200 after the Health Unit confirmed 6 new cases today and 51 resolved cases.

OXFORD/ST.THOMAS/ELGIN - Southwestern Public Health has confirmed 6 new cases of the virus today and 51 resolved cases.  

We currently have 9 people in the hospital with the virus, including 2 in the ICU. The Health Unit is reporting 184 active cases with most of them in Tillsonburg, Woodstock, Norwich Township, and St. Thomas. Here is the breakdown of the locations according to Southwestern Public Health:

Tillsonburg - 39

Woodstock - 37

Norwich Township - 23

East Zorra-Tavistock - 12

Ingersoll - 8

South-West Oxford - 4

Zorra Township - 1

St. Thomas - 25

Aylmer - 23

Bayham - 6

Malahide - 2

Central Elgin - 1

West Elgin - 2

Southwold - 1

The Health Unit is also reporting 12 active outbreaks at long term care homes: 

Caressant Care Retirement Home Woodstock - 19 resident cases, 3 staff cases and 0 deaths 

Harvest Crossing Retirement Residence - 0 resident cases, 1 staff case and 0 deaths

Chartwell Oxford Gardens - 0 resident cases, 1 staff case and 0 deaths

Dayspring Residence Tillsonburg - 1 resident cases, 0 staff case and 0 deaths

Trillium Retirement Home/Norwich Township - 13 resident cases, 5 staff cases and 0 deaths 

Carressant Care Bonnie Place/St. Thomas - 2 resident case, 0 staff cases and 1 death 

Woodingford Lodge/Woodstock site - 2 resident cases, 2 staff cases, 0 deaths 

PeopleCare/Tavistock - 47 resident cases, 36 staff cases, 9 deaths 

Maple Manor/Tillsonburg - 85 resident cases, 52 staff cases, 20 deaths 

Terrace Lodge Aylmer - 0 residents cases, 6 staff case, 0 deaths

Seasonal Retirement Home - St. Thomas - 0 resident cases, 1 staff case and 0 deaths 

Elgin Manor, St. Thomas - 0 resident cases, 1 staff case, 0 deaths
