Locals can learn more about sustainable energy Wednesday in Woodstock
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Hydro is partnering with the Woodstock and District Chamber of Commerce to help residents understand sustainable energy.
It's part of their Sustainable Energy Expo being hosted Wednesday at the Quality Hotel and Suites.
Manager of Operation at Woodstock Hydro Jay Heaman says the event is meant to promote their White Lane MicroGRID project.
"It's a smart grid project that's kind of unique in the province here being done in our downtown core but what we are trying to do is break out the individual components of a smart grid. In other words, we have a station set up for solar, for smart metering, for electric vehicles, solar thermal, wind -- several different technologies that all share the theme of renewable and sustainable energy."
Heaman says their keynote speaker is Dr. Jose Etcheverry who travels the world, working with different municipalities on sustainable energy development.
Heaman says it's an event for anyone who is thinking about renewable energy. "Anyone who has an interest in reducing their electricity consumption, there's going to be something there for them. People that want to be able to offset all or part of their electricity consumption with a renewable resource, there's going to be all kinds of opportunities for them there."
The event runs from 3-8pm with five keynote speakers.
Anyone wishing to attend this free event are being asked to RSVP to sustainableenergy@woodstockchamber.ca .
