Finishing touches are being put on Tavistock's new and improved Queen's Park. This weekend, the community is hosting a free event to celebrate the new pavillion, trails, and other amenities. The only element still missing is a new playground that will be installed this fall. The park opened up a couple of weeks ago, but fundraising committee member Jane Bender says they're ready to celebrate together. "A good, fun, community day. Admission is free, there's a BBQ lunch being put on by the Optimists'. The Tavistock Athletics Baseball association has several things going on, on the baseball diamond, as well as the Tavistock Tornadoes are putting on some soccer skills tests and pick-up soccer." There's also dancing, euchre, basketball, floor hockey, and other events. Bender says, "We're not looking for people to sit and watch, we really want them to take part." The event runs from 10AM-4PM.
