The Thank a Trucker team will be set up outside of the TA Travel Centre in Woodstock on Friday during lunch time delivering free hot meals to truckers as a way to say thank you.
WOODSTOCK - The Thank a Trucker team will be set up outside of the TA Petro truck stop in Woodstock on Friday, May 1st from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm.
They will be handing out free pizza and drinks as way to say thank you to all of our amazing truck drivers putting in long hours to keep the supply chain moving. Currently the TA restaurant is closed and many truck drivers are having a hard time finding hot meals while they are working.
All Truck Drivers are welcome at the event and just need to show their driver’s license to get their free meal. Each free meal will also include a driver tip sheet for reducing their risk of coming into contact with the COVID-19 virus while on the road.
The event is meant to show support to drivers putting themselves at risk every day. Aaron Lindsay, VP of Marketing at Thank a Trucker says this is just one small way to say thank you.
“These drivers are heading out into the front lines every day to make sure we have food on our tables, fuel in our cars, and anything else we need, but it comes with a big risk and less than ideal circumstances.”
Many drivers are finding it difficult to find food or washrooms out on the road, with many restaurants closed or operating via drive-thru only, adding to an already stressful job environment during the pandemic.
Thank a Trucker, an initiative created by NAL Insurance in London, Ontario, is working to raise money to provide truck drivers with PPE equipment including hand sanitizer, masks, and gloves as well as other essential items like food and drinks. Funds are raised through merchandise sales on their website, including t-shirts, hats, and face covers.
