The Bard's Work Comes to Centennial Park

Nature and theatre merge as Driftwood Theatre presents Shakespeare's Othello in Centennial Park.

INGERSOLL - The Ingersoll Cheese and Agricultural Museum plays host to Driftwood Theatre's production of Shakespeare's tragedy Othello.

The play will be set against the backdrop of Canadian history: in 1974 Canadian soldiers are caught in a life or death struggle on the island of Cyprus. Things get started at 7:30 p.m. tonight (July 19) where you can experience Shakespeare in a new way in Centennial Park.

Museum Curator Scott Gillies tells Heart FM the audience will get a chance to watch the events unfold under starlight.

"On a blanket or one of the picnic tables in the park, and they claim their spot, because it is theatre in the round so no matter where you sit you'll always have a good view."

Gillies knows Driftwood Theatre's shows have been a real hit in Ingersoll in the past.

"Driftwood puts on a fabulous show. It is incredible what they are able to do with a minimalist stage - draws you right into the performance. It is a magical moment to sit back and watch the play unfold as the stars come out."

Admission for the event is pay what you can.

For more information about the event visit the Driftwood Theatre's website.
