Events, fuel sales, and members. They all keep going up at the Tillsonburg Airport. Representatives presented County Council with this information, asking for their support for new initiatives. One of those initiatives is to clear out some of the trees along Highway 19. Development Commissioner for the Town Cephas Panschow says their runway needs more room. "Essentially that's at the end of our runway. They intrude into what they call the air space or the flight plan approach for the airport. So we are looking at removing those, and more importantly we're mitigating that by replanting trees and they have to be replanted actually at a ratio of 4:1," said Panschow. The airport held many events this year that they plan to repeat next year. Airport Manager Annette Murray says they have a new one in store. "We have a new event called 'Fly and Buy' where pilots can bring in their aircraft that's for sale and if other pilots are looking for an aircraft to buy then they can come to the airport the same day and hopefully we can match them up," said Murray. The airport wants to develop cost sharing fees with the county for projects and an increase in their annual grant. A request council will discuss in 2013 budget deliberations.
