BLANDFORD-BLENHEIM - The Township of Blandford Blenheim is postponing their upcoming council meeting scheduled for April 1st due to concerns around COVID-19.
They will proceed with the meeting on April 15 and it will be conducted electronically. The Township is cancelling all scheduled public meetings for April, due to COVID-19 concerns and will only meet electronically, until further notice.
Originally they wanted to have the meeting on the 15th at the Princeton Centennial Hall to allow for social distancing.
CAO Roger Mordue explains why they have decided to do it electronically instead.
"Originally the reason for the traditional format of this meeting was to facilitate 4 public meetings under the Planning Act. This morning we have learnt that although we would be able to conduct these public meetings the appeal period would not begin until after the Provincial emergency order gets lifted. This means that although Township Council could make a decision on the matter, that decision would not be final and binding until after the appeal period is up which would be after the Province lifts the emergency order."
