The damage is estimated at about $20,000 after a vehicle burst into flames in a James Street parking lot yesterday evening. No one was hurt.
WOODSTOCK - No one was hurt after a vehicle went up in flames on James Street in Woodstock.
Lisa Woods, Public Information Coordinator with the Woodstock Fire Department, says the fire broke out in a parking lot shortly after 6:30 p.m. yesterday and crews were able to extinguish the flames in about 10 minutes.
"We were able quickly knock down the flames, but the car is a write-off and the damage is estimated at $20,000."
The fire was contained and did not spread to any other vehicles in the parking lot. There is no word on the cause at this time.
Vehicle fires happen fast and they can spread very fast. If you ever notice smoke or flames while you're in a vehicle, Woods says you should pull over, get out of the vehicle and get away from it. You should also call 911 so firefighters can respond to the fire as soon as possible.
