Woodstock Mayor Trevor Birtch says the internet is silencing PHD's with other opinions on vaccinations and he will not tell anyone to get a medical treatment.
The Mayor of Woodstock claims local citizens are being bullied and harassed for their stance on vaccine mandates.
Trevor Birtch used his closing remarks at the end of last weeks council meeting to talk about vaccine mandates. Birtch is also a County councillor and vehemently questioned the Oxford County vaccination policy at their most recent council meeting. You can read more about that online here.
He is imploring people to choose kindness and respect everyone's right to choose to get vaccinated. Birtch says we are all part of the same community and we need to stop getting into interactions like the one he had a grocery store recently.
"When my son and I were shopping and there was no one in the aisle and we grabbing something but the arrow was pointing the other way, and a lady had turned the corner and was 60 feet away and started to scream at us and my son just said, stop in Karen."
Birtch says people are being silenced in an effort to push vaccines.
"When we see individuals with multiple degrees and PHD's and they have won multiple awards and all of a sudden, the internet has them silenced and their studies are peered reviewed have disappeared and only appear on what some would deem as conspiracy theory, alternate web sites, that is not science, science is not silencing people with other opinions."
Birtch says he will never tell anyone to go and get a medical treatment, even though many leaders, who are not physicians have done so.
"I will not do that, it is a choice you can make, I am not talking about myself and whether or not I believe in these mandates, but I will stand up for people who have the freedom of choice."
You can watch the Mayors comments from last weeks council meeting on the City's YouTube channel and the video is posted in this article. His comments start around the 1 hour 19 minute mark. The City of Woodstock has not implemented a vaccine policy, however it will be discussed at the next council meeting.
