Woodstock Sports Hall Of Fame Exhibit

The grand opening of the Woodstock Sports Hall of Fame exhibit at the Woodstock Museum National Historic Site will take place on Thursday from 5pm until 7pm.

WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Museum National Historic Site is gearing up for their big summer exhibit.

On Thursday night they will host the grand opening of the Woodstock Sports Hall of Fame exhibit from 5 - 7 pm and it will run until September 24th. Curator Karen Houston tells Heart FM they will have the Tip O'Neill trophy on display for the opening night.

"The Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame is bringing the Tip O'Neill trophy and of course that is given out every year to a Canadian baseball player and it is named after a gentleman who is of course from Woodstock and is in the Hall of Fame. Tip O'Neill was a famous baseball player from the 19th century."

130 people and teams are on the Wall of Fame and this exhibit will feature 12 of them and it will be go into more detail and artifacts with those athletes. This exhibit will look in depth at 12 of the most iconic athletes form Woodstock.

"When we had the Wall of Fame, we simply had a photo and a brief write up of what they did, this is going into more detail and this Fall coming up in October they are going to have a rededication for the Wall of Fame at the arena but they won't have the artifacts so this is sort of a precursor to that."
