Woodstock Sports Wall of Fame Inductees

The list of inductees has been set for the Woodstock Sports Wall of Fame. Six new inductions will be made at the October 27th ceremony at Goff Hall in the Community Complex. Here are the inductees: Female Athlete Stephanie Worsfold -WCI grad. Background in dance, long-distance running, aerobics and body building. Born: Sept. 26, 1969. -1996 Ms Fitness Canada ? first place; held in Windsor. Competed in more than 35 international shows. -1996 and 2007 competed in Fitness Olympia. In 2007 in Las Vegas was 17th. -Many top five results. -Professional women?s bodybuilder and fitness (IFBB) competitor. First pro Canadian -Gives back to her sport by organizing Stephanie Worsfold Classic (May 5, 2012) in London, held at Centennial Hall (www.stephanieworsfold.ca). She?s both a personal trainer and nutrition consultant. Male Athlete Brad Sales -In Summer Olympics year, it?s time to honour a Woodstock Paralympic swimmer, who won GOLD in Sydney, Australia in 2000. -Paralympics 2004 in Athens, Greece. (5th in 400m freestyle and 100m backstroke) -2002 and 2006 (Durban, South Africa; best result was 8th in 100 back) International Paralympic Championships -World records in 200m backstroke and 1500m backstroke. Owns and/or owned 5 Canadian records ? 50m backstroke, 100 back, 200 back, 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle. -Born without a left leg above his knee (S9 category), Brad would compete locally for Piranhas of Woodstock swim team. He turned 30 on April 15 of this year. -Competed in Para Pan-American Games in Brazil in 2007. (Silver in 400 free, bronze in 100 back) -Also appeared in TV commercials and other ads in support of the War Amps Champ program. Team 1995 Woodstock F/X - Canadian men?s ?B? slo-pitch champions in 1995, winning nationals in Marystown, Newfoundland, by going 7-0, Aug. 3-6, 1995 - Alphabetical Order: Jamie Adams, Brian Barta, Kevin Bruder, Rob Duncan, Brian Edwards, John Goodbun, Kevin Jackson, Rob Jeanson, Bob Langdon, Marc Lazenby, Brian MacDonald, Mike Nagy, Steve Oliveira, Pat Parsons, Paul Robinson, Rob Stafford, and Jason Webster. - Rob Stafford MVP of tourney, pitching 6 of 7 games, and also batting .650 with 6 homeruns, including hitting 2 3-run homers in an earlier 16-2 win. -In finals, Brian Barta went 3-for-3, while both Jackson and Bruder also added 3 hits. -Woodstock was 4-0 in round-robin, then winning quarters 25-13 over Oshawa. -Won semifinals over Blaketown, Nfld 14-4, and beat same team in finals as Blaketown Hitmen was undefeated. Builder of Sport Dave MacQueen -Athlete and coach in hockey. 53 years old. -Played minor hockey and softball for Woodstock. -OHL played for Ottawa 67s and Sudbury Wolves. In 78-79 with Sudbury, 60-66-126. -Pro hockey 1979-86. In IHL (Peoria Rivermen and Flint Generals). In 83-84 with Mohawk Valley Stars in ACHL had 54 goals and 54 assists. -Currently coaching pro in Austria: Dornbirn Bulldogs -Head coach in Ontario Hockey League (450 career wins is 9th all-time) for Sarnia Sting (4 seasons, 06-10), Erie Otters (7 seasons, 99-06, 2002 OHL champs, 2001 OHL coach of year) and Peterborough Petes (3 seasons, 93-96, 1996 OHL champs). Jr B coach with St Marys Lincolns previous to OHL. -Assistant coach in NHL for Tampa Bay Lightning under Terry Crisp in 1996-98. -Gave back to community by operating a summer hockey school in Woodstock for many years. Dad Ed MacQueen inducted previously. Historic Jack Luckman -Name a sport and Jack Luckman has likely made a contribution. -Junior hockey with Guelph Royals (1945-47), senior hockey with Hamilton Tigers (47-49) and Woodstock Athletics (49-60). (Was recruited to Woodstock in 1949 by Stub Harper to play baseball and hockey) -Junior hockey coach for Woodstock Warriors (1954-55) -Pro baseball played second base for Albany Cardinals (St Louis system), 1946-47. -Baseball Guelph Maple Leafs in InterCounty, 48-49. Woodstock Athletics, 49-52 as player and coach. -Football, halfback and kicker for Hamilton Tigers as Canadian junior champions in 1946. -Now 85 years old. Lifetime Achievement Marg Skillings -Athlete and coach in women?s hockey and fastball. -Player Woodstock City-Wide Cleaners (pitcher and outfielder) women?s fastball team, 1960s -Player St Marys intermediates ? provincial title. Also: Simcoe Stars. -Player Milverton Suns, 3 provincial championships, 1977-79. Canadian all-star in 1977 and 1979. - In 1978, Team Canada in El Salvador, winning silver with only loss 4-0 to U.S. in finals (Doc?s Blues club from British Columbia. Inducted in Softball Canada hall of fame in 1990.) -Coached St Clements Suns to 2nd place at Softball Canada nationals -2005 Woodstock Legends fastball tournament inducted as a ?Legend?. -Head coach of 1996 Woodstock Wildcats women?s senior ?D? provincial-champion hockey team (inducted in 2006). Long-time Wildcats executive member also.
