WOODSTOCK - The Oxford Winds are getting prepared for their 23rd annual Christmas Concert.
The Oxford Winds will be performing with the Woodstock Fanshawe Singers for their second concert together.
The show will have both the Winds and the Singers perform alone and also collaborate and play the pieces together.
The Conductor and Music Director of the Oxford Winds Stephanie Riehl explains how the Oxford Winds started and what they strive to do.
"The Oxford Winds started 23 years ago, and we really strive to make music affordable and accessible to everybody in Oxford county, that means providing a place for Musicians to play their instruments like brass, woodwinds, and percussion or just by providing music to the community by having concerts like this that we try to make affordable for everyone to attend, the Oxford Winds also travel to many different places around Oxford county to bring music to local nursing homes and retirement homes, we perform at the Woodstock Hospital as well and we just want to make sure that everyone has access to music in our Community."
Tickets will be $10 if you get them from Merrifield Book Shop or at ticketscene, tickets will be $15 at the door for anyone 12 and over but free for anyone 12 and under.
Riehl says there are a lot of songs that people will recognize.
"So it features some songs from the Polar Express, the movie as well as some from the messiah, we also have an Elvis Christmas song for some folks who will enjoy that, we have a really nice rendition of Greensleeves as well as a few medleys of popular Christmas songs that everyone will know."
It will be at the Knox Presbyterian Church this Friday at 7:30 PM.
