Friday night it is the Woodstock Navy Vets traditional free home opener against Paris. The team is happy to have some returning players and are excited to see what the new players to the rosters will bring.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Navy Vets open up there season with a back to back starting on Thursday night in Ayr against the Centennials. Then on Friday night it is the free home opener against Paris. President Devon Young says they will be collecting donations for the Terry Fox run.
"We have Paris coming into town on Friday night and that is always fun, it's usually big crowd for the home opener with the free admission. The Terry Fox Run, we love working with them, obviously it is just a fantastic cause, we are just pleased to partner with as many local charities and non profits as we can. Our mission is to be a pillar in this community and give back to some great causes here in Woodstock."
Young says they are really excited about opening night and he is happy that hockey is back.
"We are pretty excited, it has been a long summer for us, we got started in early June, so the start of the season has been a long time coming. Ayr looks like they are going to have a really good team again, so we are excited to get moving and see where we stack up."
He adds they they have a lot of key players returning this year, and are also really excited about the new guys.
"Really all the way through the lineup, we are pretty excited to see what we can do, really we don't see too many holes in our lineup right now."
