Cheese & Cheers - A Tapas Experience

Chef Simon Mathias of Tempo Restaurant and cheesemonger Wes Mazur of Cheesy Cow will host Cheese & Cheers — A Tapas Experience, Taking place Friday, November 6, 2026, at South Gate Centre, the event will bring together just 102 guests for an evening featuring six tapas courses prepared by Chef Simon, artisan cheeses selected by Wes Mazur, thoughtfully paired beverages, live entertainment and plenty of opportunity to sip, savour and discover something new.
Throughout the evening, Chef Simon and Wes will guide guests through the six-course experience, sharing the flavours, ingredients and stories behind each course and pairing. Each course will be accompanied by a carefully selected wine, beer or non-alcoholic beverage designed to complement the food and cheese being served.

The evening will begin with a welcoming cocktail reception and live entertainment before guests take their seats for the guided culinary experience. Guests will also have opportunities to support South Gate Centre through a live auction, with Mike Crabbe serving as auctioneer.

A Culinary Experience with a Community Purpose
Cheese & Cheers is more than an evening of exceptional food and drink. Proceeds from the event will help support the new Rotary Kitchen at South Gate Centre — a space that plays an important role in meals, programs, special events and community gatherings at the Centre.
“This isn’t simply dinner — it’s an experience,” said South Gate Centre Executive Director, Christine Cunningham. “Chef Simon and Cheesemonger Wes are creating something very special for our guests. It’s an opportunity to enjoy an incredible evening while also supporting a space that will bring people together at South Gate Centre for years to come.”

Seating for Cheese & Cheers is intentionally limited to 17 tables of six, creating an intimate atmosphere where guests can enjoy the experience together from beginning to end.

Tickets are $660 for a table of 6.
