In celebration of the 115th anniversary of the Ingersoll Pipe Band, members of the band will be hosting five additional area pipe bands that will converge upon the Town of Ingersoll on the afternoon of Saturday August 16th. The IPB is delighted to offer you this afternoon of free entertainment to help us celebrate this anniversary milestone.
Pipers and drummers from the London Firefighters Pipe Band, the London Police Pipes and Drums, the St. Thomas Police Pipes and Drums, Branch 642 Chatham Royal Canadian Legion Pipe Band, and Branch 176 Forest Royal Canadian Legion Pipe Band will be joining Ingersoll’s band members in a parade followed by a pipe band tattoo in Yvonne Holmes Mott Memorial Park. This is our opportunity to showcase the traditional sounds of bagpipes and drums!
The parade will begin at 1pm at the intersection of Wonham St. S and Charles St. W, and will proceed along Charles St., then south on Thames St. to Canterbury St. and then into the park. The tattoo will begin at 2 pm and each band will perform for about 15 minutes some of its favorite Scottish tunes. Then all bands will rejoin for a massed band finale. We hope to have 115 pipers and drummers on the field!
P.B’s French Fries, Candyliscious Ice Cream, and other community groups will be present to offer you the opportunity to purchase refreshments or find out more about local services. So, bring your lawn chairs to Memorial Park and settle in for an afternoon of music and treats.
