Residents will get the chance to have their questions answered at the first All Candidates Meeting in September.
WOODSTOCK - The first all candidates meeting for the Federal election is happening on September 17th at the South Gate Centre in Woodstock.
All of the candidates looking to represent Oxford as the Member of Parliament have been invited. They are Mike Farlow with the Green Party, Zoe Kunschner representing the NDP, Incumbent Dave MacKenzie with the Conservatives and Melody Aldred representing the Christian Heritage Party. The Liberals have yet to announce a candidate for Oxford, and they will be invited if a candidate is named before the 17th.
Interim Executive Director of the Social Planning Council of Oxford Carolijn Verbakel tells Heart FM what the format will be like on the 17th.
"Each candidate will be asked a series of prepared questions on social issues, such as food security, poverty, living wage, and affordable housing. Each candidate will have some time to answer each question and then the moderator will open up the floor to have questions from the audience."
The forum will be hosted by the Social Planning Council with the United Way Oxford, the South Gate Centre, Community Employment Centre and Woodstock and Area Community Health Centre. Verbakel adds the all candidates meeting will run for two hours starting at 7 p.m.
