Coming Together for the Empeys

"...they put everybody else first, so I think it's time that we put them first and give them some help in their time of need."

A fundraiser will help out a local family after their home was ravaged by flames.

Tickets are now on sale for a dance on Saturday, February 25th to help Terry and Paula Empey. Their home was mostly destroyed by a fire earlier this year.

Organizer Marsha McConnell tells Heart FM there will be a toonie toss, a raffle, a penny sale, and a silent auction.

"We have about 20 to 25 things in the silent auction including an autographed baseball from the Toronto Blue Jays and Dean Brody and Brett Kissel autographed CD's. The community has come together in the tonne load to donate some things for the silent auction."

McConnell says the Empey's are always there to help others when they need it.

"They don't even hesitate - if someone else is in need they put everybody else first, so I think it's time that we put them first and give them some help in their time of need."

McConnell, an employee with Woodstock General Hospital, says Terry Empey has preformed George Strait tributes to dying patients in the past.

The fundraising dance will kick off at 8 p.m. with $10 tickets being sold at the door at the Unifor Hall in Woodstock. You can also purchase tickets in advance by calling McConnell 519-539-0384 or Cheryl DeCoopman 519-539-8656.
